Type 304L stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that has extra low carbon and is non- hardenable and non-magnetic except by cold working. It has only a general purpose corrosion resistance and may be susceptible to chloride stress cracking. Very low carbon chromium-nickel stainless steel similar to Type 304, but with superior resistance to inter-granular corrosion after welding or stress relieving.
